Too Many Shabby Sites On The Web

We've all seen them, we've all experienced them at one time or another. Shabby Sites! Websites that are just terrible for one reason or another. The first thing that comes to mind is a website that just looks terrible. The graphics are somewhat "clip-artish", the fonts are super-big and contain serifs. Images and headers are just too far out of alignment, and there's "east-to-west scrolling". No one wants to visit a site like that, and in 2010, there's absolutely no need for a site to look like so.

Another characteristic of a shabby website is the usability. The menu makes no sense and links lead you nowhere but to become lost on the site. You may never quite find what you need on the site, despite the fact that you came to the site for a specific purpose for which the website states that it serves. What's even worse is that sometimes the spelling and grammar is an atrocity - to say the least - and pages are incomplete.

As stated before, we've all seen or have been a victim of those types of sites. It should be quite embarrassing to be an owner or website administrator of such. There's no reason for a shabby website to exist.

Your Website Is Shabby If It Contains Any Of The Following:

-Tacky graphics (clip art, thick line-borders, etc.)
-Tons of misspellings & improper grammar/usage
-Misaligned elements & "east-to-west" page scrolling
-Excess flash, javascript, or things causing too much load time
-Ridiculously long or hard to remember domain names
-Illogical navigation and/or links that lose users within a site
